Show your Self-respect Respect of Others Positive Self-image Acceptance Respect for the Environment Respect for Life

The world doesn’t always line up with our view of how it should be.  People have different opinions and different views.

You don’t always have to agree with others, but it is important to listen to their point of view and allow them to have their views.  In other words, you should respect them.  At the same time, you must learn to respect yourself.  If you compromise on your values you are really cheating yourself.  Be proud of who you are and appreciate what you have.  Respect the environment for all it gives you.  Respect all life for the gift that it is.  The value of Respect gives us a solid footing for how to navigate a world full of ideas, some good, some not.

Be sure to understand what Respect is and what it is not.  Respect is showing openness to listen to others and their ideas.  Respect is not a blank check for trust.  A child should respect their soccer coach and be attentive in practice.  That does not mean that a child should accept a ride in the coach’s car if the child’s parents have not OK’d that activity.  Remember, we respect everybody but we only trust our parents, our family and the safe adults our parents have told us to trust.
